FOURTH ANNUAL FLAG RETIREMENT

Veterans Lake Inc, is hosting with help from Elk River, Anoka, and Coon Rapids American Legion's, and Fridley, Elk River Rogers VFW's, the largest retirement for American flags.

Admission is free. Donations of items for our men and women fighting in lraq and Afghanistan will be collected. Any family can bring old? worn, torn, or damaged U.S. Flags for proper, respectful, retirement.

Veteran's Lake will be open for nature walks (a path of approx. 1 mile), flower garden tours, and observing loons and swans on the water.

  • Country Music Hall of Fame Musicians Sherwin & Pam Linton will be performing many patriotic songs and live country music.

  • Jack Tomscak will be there to represent Rep. Michael Bachmann from 6th District.

  • Mayor Bob Ramsey speaking on behalf of the City of Ramsey and Veterans.

  • Rifle Salute and Flag raising by Elk River American Legion Post 112.

  • Flag counting and stacking by residents.

  • Flag retirement ceremony to be performed by officers of Elk River Legion Post 112, Commander John Salk,

  • Flag burning.  

  • There will be a Potluck dinner for those who wish to stay.

  • Laurie Ohlman will thank donators on behalf of the Soldiers and explain what will be done with items received.
